LIBER aims to create dynamic and soft hybrid materials with capability to learn, adapt or respond to the environment.
The Centre of Excellence in Life Inspired Hybrid Materials (LIBER) was launched in 2022 via the Centre of Excellence Programme 2022-2029 funded by the Research Council of Finland.

LIBER Research Team Leaders
LIBER consortium includes eight multidisciplinary research groups from three different institutes, including Aalto University, Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and Tampere University. LIBER combines expertise on molecular self-assembly, soft robotics, surfaces and interfaces, genetic engineering of proteins, biotechnological production of engineered biomolecules, and computational modelling.
