Five LIBER CoE Researchers Awarded Prestigious Academy Fellowship in 2024

Five researchers from the LIBER Centre of Excellence (CoE) have been awarded the highly competitive Academy Fellowship by the Research Council of Finland in 2024. The total funding received amounts to approximately 3.4 million euros.


Out of 369 applicants in the 2024 call, the success rate was notably low about 14%, underscoring the significance of this accomplishment. The awardees are listed below:


  • Sandra Kaabel, (Aalto University): Solvent-free synthetic platform for heterogeneous cellulose-based catalysts; 670 K€

  • Hang Zhang (Aalto University): Light-driven hydrogel-based feedback networks; 690 K€

  • Maja Vuckovac (Aalto University): Soft Matter Adhesion Microscope for Unravelling Dynamics of Soft Wet Adhesion; 670 K€

  • Zhongpeng Lyu (Aalto University): MXene-TTFs nanocomposite for tuneable photonics; 660 K€

  • Tero-Petri Ruoko (Tampere University): Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence under Confinement in a Supramolecular Cage; 661 K€
